Alex’s Lemonade Stand – Innovation Award LOI Deadline: November 11th, 2013 Do you have a high risk idea that has potential for high impact on pediatric cancer patients? Does your idea, approach, or methodology have the potential to move your research and the field in a new direction? ALSF's Innovation Award provides seed funding for proof-of-concept proposals. The award is $250,000 over two years. Notification will be sent early January 2014. Upon invitation, the full application will be due March 3, 2014. Please review the application guidelines.

Canadian Medical Association (CMA) – 2014 CMA Awards Deadline: November 30, 2013. The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) invites nominations for its 2014 CMA Awards. The CMA has 13 awards to recognize the dedication, successes and talents of Canadian men and women who have made significant contributions in a number of different spheres. Three of the 13 awards pertain to research accomplishments – Medal of Honour, William Marsden, and Young Leaders. The Faculty of Medicine (FoM) is launching an internal Canada Research Chairs (CRC) competition to fill vacant Tier 2 CRCs who will go forward to the national CRC competition in April 2014. Alex’s Lemonade Stand – Young Investigator Award Deadline: December 16th, 2013 ALSF is committed to the next generation of pediatric cancer investigators! The Young Investigator Award provides start-up funds for new scientists at the end of their fellowship training or early in their research career. Developing an impactful line of research and a sustainable career in pediatric oncology research are key components of this grant program. The award is $100,000 over two years. Alex’s Lemonade Stand – Epidemiology Grants Deadline: December 16th, 2013; ALSF provides funding that will allow investigators to pursue novel and promising epidemiological approaches to understanding childhood cancers. New in 2014, we have expanded our eligible areas of investigation to include comparative effectiveness and outcomes research. Proposals for evaluating effectiveness of interventions related to prevention, detection and treatment of childhood cancer will be considered. Maximum $100,000 of direct costs will be awarded to applicants annually and a maximum of two years of funding may be requested. Please review the application guidelines.
