Resident Research Funding Competition Application Form

What you need to Know
Since 2009, the Department of Pediatrics is recognizing resident initiated research projects with a special ‘Resident Research Grant Competition’.
A total of $3,000 is available for the annual grant competition, and applications can be up to this amount. The Department of Pediatrics Research Committee will review and deliberate to determine grant approval. Partial award may be offered.
What Can Be Funded?
Eligible expenses include all activities that cannot be completed by the resident within the context of the research project.
e.g. costs for mailing, software, stationery, project supplies, copyright, consultant fees, specific lab tests or covering local travel related to the project, chart review
What Cannot Be Funded?
Activities that should be done by the resident in the context of the research project:
e.g. hiring a research assistant to extract information from medical records or getting consents from parents or interviewing families
Costs related to scientific presentations:
e.g. fees associated travel and accommodation to a conference will not be considered acceptable.
Statistical consultant fees-residents are provided free of charge
Items covered by your supervisor’s budget
