Biography:
Dr. Pascal Lavoie completed medical school and a PhD in Experimental Medicine at McGill University before completing his pediatric residency training at the University of Montreal. Coming over to the west coast to complete his fellowship, Dr. Lavoie has now been a staff neonatologist at BC Women’s and Children’s since 2006, UBC Faculty since 2008 and an Associate Professor in pediatrics at UBC since 2014. His main research focus surrounds why newborns get infections, the development of the neonatal immune system, inflammatory diseases and health in neonates and infants, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. He is currently the Research Director of the Neonatal Program.
