Biography:
Dr. Jessie van Dyk completed her medical training at the University of Pretoria and paediatric residency at the University of Cape Town and Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. This was followed by a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of Toronto. She completed a Masters degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Healthcare Research while working as Clinician Scientist in Neonatology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the University of Toronto, during which time she gained experience in developmental follow-up of high risk neonates after NICU discharge. She comes to Vancouver via St Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto where she worked as staff neonatologist and division head for Neonatology.
Dr. van Dyk’s main areas of clinical and research interest are including families in the care of their newborns, developmental care, monitoring of high risk neonates’ medical and developmental wellbeing after discharge and neurocritical care.
