New Academic Faculty position: Dr. Brett Schrewe

Dr. Brett Schrewe, Assistant Professor, Division of General Pediatrics, Island Medical Program is based out of Victoria, BC.

Dr. Schrewe enjoys the diversity of his work as a consultant pediatrician and as an education researcher. He obtained his MDCM from McGill University, and completed his pediatrics residency at both McGill and UBC.

He completed a clinical educator fellowship through the Centre for Health Education Scholarship in 2012, and an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies through UBC in 2013. He is currently finishing his doctorate in the UBC Department of Educational Studies, and he was a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar from
2017-2021.

His research draws upon critical theory and qualitative methodologies to explore how education practices and policies shape who learners can become as physicians with respect to areas of health equity, wellness, contextual competence, social accountability, and citizenship and democratic practice.
