Dr. Soren Gantt has been awarded a CIHR Project Grant of $1.1M over 5 yrs for his study “Viral determinants of natural human cytomegalovirus transmission.”
Cytomegalovirus is the most common congenital infection, and a major cause of birth defects worldwide.
This study will characterize the specific viral variants and modes of transmission between mothers and children, to guide the development of a vaccine to prevent CMV infection.
Dr. Soren Gantt is an Associate Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases which is part of the Department of Pediatrics at UBC.
