We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jennifer Smitten, Clinical Instructor, with the Division of Critical Care.
Originally from Penticton BC, Jennifer completed a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology & Immunology at UBC, followed by a term in rural South Africa working for the Canadian International Development Agency. She returned to Vancouver for her medical studies and is currently completing her final year of training as one of the Chief Pediatric Residents at BC Children’s Hospital.
Jennifer’s interests include global health, access to health care, and working with vulnerable/marginalized populations.
During her residency, she worked in a range of settings including Lesotho, Cambodia, and the remote First Nations community of Hartley Bay. In addition, Jennifer has a strong interest in medical education and is excited to continue to be involved with teaching and supporting learners in the challenging academic setting of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
