“Our research shows the impact of implementing universal funding for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology for children and youth living with type 1 diabetes in BC. Specifically, we showed that before the universal funding policy was implemented, access to diabetes technology and the uptake of CGM was lowest in the most deprived children and highest in the least deprived children. 1-year after the policy was implemented, the greatest uptake of CGM technology was in the most deprived children, narrowing the equity gap between the most and least deprived children living with diabetes in BC. Our study shows the importance of public policy on equitable access to diabetes technology.”
