Advancing Resident Curriculum – For the Residents, By the Residents

Our very own residents Anas Manouzi, Haley deVries, and Victoria Cook have been featured on the Faculty of Medicine’s website for the excellence they have achieved in developing a resident-led clinical simulation curriculum. Simulations give trainees the opportunity to practice until perfect so they will fully ready to handle real patient emergencies. As Anas puts it, “simulation is a very powerful tool.”

A few years ago, residents would participate in ten to twelve simulations over their entire residency. That number has now tripled to about thirty simulations, performed every Tuesday afternoon during the academic half day. Participants in the program report an improvement in their performance, and have shown better handling of emergencies with their additional training.

Thank you to the Faculty and Residents who have endeavoured and persevered to continuously improve the level of training the Department of Pediatrics delivers.
