A big shout out to all the Department of Pediatrics runners that participated in this year’s BMO Marathon events. May 6 was another beautiful Vancouver day and we have some heartwarming news.
Setting a personal goal for yourself and then having your family’s support can help keep your spirits up when the training kilometers seem to go on forever. One of our team members ran her first race on Sunday and her commitment to her goal inspired her mom, dad and husband to sign up as a relay team on their own to support her.
Another participant had his family support his goals every step of the way. From picking up his race package to cheering along the sidelines in between feeding and nap times. There’s nothing like chubby hands and feet waving you off to remind you why you signed up for the race when your legs feel like lead blocks out of the starting gate.
And finally, kudos to a staff member in our central office that only trained one month for the half marathon and finished in 2:09. She is still smiling on Monday morning.
“Was fantastic to be part of the team.”
“Thx for letting me share this experience with you.”
“Congrats to all for excellent times throughout!”
